Stephanie Whitehead, CA CSR No. 10093
RDR, RMR, CRR, CRC, CVR
Stephanie has been a licensed RPR and California CSR since 1993. She began her career as a freelance court reporter, traveling throughout Southern California, the United States, and internationally to capture depositions and sworn testimony in pretrial discovery for civil matters. This dynamic work allowed her to showcase her realtime skills while gaining valuable experience in a wide array of legal matters, including product liability, real estate, medical and legal malpractice, and patent infringement. Her career progressed to include work for the federal court and state court, covering both civil trials and family law litigation.
It was in the courtroom setting that Stephanie discovered her true passion, and in 2018 she accepted a position as an official reporter with the San Diego Superior Court. This was where Stephanie earned her stripes in the world of criminal reporting — handling everything from the mundane rhythm of court calendars to the intense drama of murder trials. In 2023, Stephanie took the next step in her career by accepting a prestigious position with the U.S. District Court, which had been a long-term goal. This role has allowed her to draw on more than three decades of experience, applying her skills at the highest level of federal reporting.
A passionate advocate for the future of stenography, which includes voice writing, Stephanie has served at the local, state and national level, and she regularly encourages others to get involved in advancing our profession. Teaching aspiring stenographers since 2019, she is driven by a passion to introduce others to the rewarding world of court reporting. “It’s incredibly fulfilling,” she says, “to help others discover the many benefits of this career and the strong sense of camaraderie and community that comes with it.”
Stephanie holds multiple advanced certifications from the National Court Reporters Association. In 2024, she earned the Certified Verbatim Reporter (CVR) credential from NVRA. Today, she uses both steno and voice writing methods as an Official U.S. Reporter.
In her free time, Stephanie enjoys yoga, hiking with her husband and their dogs, gardening, cooking, and spending time with her adult children and her three grandsons.
